Privacy policy

Custom Home Estimator is a free custom home cost calculator. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why, and who sees it.

What we collect

• Your answers about the home you want to build: location, size, style, finishes, extras, timeline, financing and budget.
• Your contact details: name, email address and phone number.
• Technical details: IP address, browser information, the page that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed.

Your answers are also saved in your own browser so you don't lose them if you reload the page. You can clear them by clearing your browser's site data.

How we use it

• To calculate your estimate, write your planning report, email you a copy and keep it at a private link.
• To send you occasional follow-up emails about planning your build. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To prevent abuse and to improve the calculator and our cost data.

When builders see your information

We share your contact details and estimate with a builder only when you ask us to: by checking the box to be contacted, or by pressing the button to send your estimate to a builder. If you used the calculator on a builder's own website, that builder receives your estimate because you submitted it through their site.

A builder who receives your information may contact you about your project and handles it under its own privacy policy.

Service providers

We use service providers to run the site, including hosting, email delivery and an AI model provider that helps write the planning report. The AI provider receives your project answers, your estimate and your first name, but not your email address or phone number. Providers may use the information only to provide their service to us.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with builders or anyone else for their own marketing unless you ask us to as described above.

How long we keep it

We keep estimates and contact details for as long as they're useful for the purposes above, generally up to three years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we honor those requests. To stop calls or texts from a builder, tell that builder directly or reply STOP to a text.

Children

The calculator is for adults and isn't directed to children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
